Ricochet

The new music ensemble “Ricochet” was established as an ensemble of Kiev Organization of Ukrainian National Composers Union in 1999. The originator of the ensemble and its artistic director was the composer Sergey Pilyutikov and its members were students, graduates and postgraduates of Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music (Kiev Conservatory). The ensemble is a creative workshop of young composers and musicians. The ensemble consists of flute, clarinet, violin, violoncello and pianoforte, though if needed it can be extended due to other
musicians (second violin, viola, horn, contrabass, canto etc).
The main purpose of the ensemble is propaganda of the outstanding music patterns of the 20th-21st centuries and inspiration of the creative activity of the modern composers. The musicians of the ensemble are open for all styles and trends.
Repertoire of the ensemble includes plenty of world premiers of Ukrainian and foreign composers, tens of chamber works of the wide stylistic compass. Since the establishment the ensemble has presented more than 60 concerts in Ukraine and is a permanent participant of all major festivals in Ukraine: “Kievmusicfest”, “Kiev Musical Premiers of the Seasons”, “Youth Music Forum”, “Two Days and Two Nights”, “Contrasts”. The ensemble regularly cooperates with Gaudeamus Contemporary Music Centre (the Netherlands), Donemus Publisher (the Netherlands), Pro Helvetia (Switherlands), Embassy of Austria in Ukraine, which participated in organization of some concerts of modern Dutch and Swedish composers in Ukraine. The ensemble performed «Pierrot Lunaire» by A. Schoenberg. In 2003 the ensemble won the Grant of the President of Ukraine and recorded the music to the media project of the artist I.Galan “Orchestra – New Reality”. It participated in international festivals “New Music Days” (Moldova, 2001) and “Ohrid Summer” (Macedonia, 2002)
